Economy Class
Dinner , Special meal: no
Given that Saudia loves to serve this dish in international economy, I figured I'd be offered chicken bariyani again. Now that I knew the secret of putting decent effort into mixing this biriyani dish, it tasted MUCH better and more consistent than the DXB-JED segment. I preferred the couscous salad to the corn salad on the way over, and again, desert was phenomenal. Wherever Sauidia gets their cake, I approve. FAs came by twice offering tea between cleaning up the trash from our meals and our arrival. While service was great and the seats in the "classic" A321s are insanely comfortable with great legroom (no IFE tho unlike the newer planes), I was a little bit miffed that I paid an extra $50 to keep the seat next to me open, and then DURING boarding I get a text that they were unable to accomidate that and put a kid in the middle seat, seperating him from his family in the back of the plane. Now, if we didn't leave with at least 20 open seats that I counted, cool, I understand. But I fail to understand why the poor kid was split from his family and why he was plugged into a seat I paid to block off, regardless of the refund being promptly issued. Why offer that service if 20 open seats, you take mine?! Lol.
