Honestly, I was hesitant about selecting the paid catering from VkusVill, but due to my last-minute indecision, I only placed the order 12 hours before departure, leaving no room for better alternatives. In the end, I spent 2,600 S7 Priority miles on it and deeply regretted the decision, as the quality was below par. For a night flight, the complimentary standard sandwich with tea would have been more than enough. If you are starving, this food might seem edible, but on a late-night leg when you are not genuinely hungry, it is difficult to swallow. Onboard, I only managed to eat the chicken patty with vegetable sauté and the salad, packing the bread roll and pancakes to finish at home. The chicken patty was mediocre but generally edible. However, the vegetable sauté was a completely tasteless disappointment, consisting almost entirely of carrots. The Greek salad was the only decent item in the whole set, though its dressing cup had bloated due to cabin pressure changes and sprayed oil all over upon opening. This created a mess, which became a problem to clean up since the cutlery pack contained only a single paper napkin. The pancakes, which I finished after arrival, were equally disappointing. Despite the promising description of a custard filling, it tasted nothing like real homemade custard; the white substance inside was a cheap, unpalatable artificial cream mix with no visible traces of strawberry. I also faced a technical issue as my camera battery died right before the meal, so I could only photograph the hot dish while it was still sealed. The open view of the pancakes was shot the following morning. To give you a complete perspective of the meal, I have included the airline's official promotional photo for comparison. Ironically, during my Aeroexpress train connection to Domodedovo Airport in Business Class, the complimentary catering—which included a large traditional gingerbread, chocolate bars, candies, and tea or coffee in the style of Rossiya Airlines—felt much more substantial than the default complimentary economy snack provided on S7’s nearly 5-hour long-haul flight to Siberia. Unfortunately, I did not think to take a picture of the train snacks for a direct comparison with the standard onboard sandwich :)
