My pre-ordered meal was not loaded onto the aircraft. Our flight attendant, Marti, was very apologetic and allowed the two customers who pre-ordered to have first choice for meals. There was either pasta or chicken. I chose the chicken as I pre-ordered it on my next flight and thought that I'd give it a try. The chicken breast was moist, surprisingly, with a nice cream sauce. The rice was nicely seasoned and even the green beans were good. The appetizer appeared to be a carrot slaw which was interesting and the salad was the usual greens and roasted tomatoes. Dessert was a key lime cheese cake. The meal itself was a 9/10 but due to the catering mistake, I gave the meal an 8/10.

Equipment: Standard American china and glassware.   //   Other: Dane County Airport is small and does not have catering. The majority of the catered flights arrive from Dallas. Several years ago, American built a large catering facility which at the time gave them bragging rights as most catering facilities are not actually owned by the airlines. In the past 1-2 years, many of the flights catered in Dallas which depart Madison have had catering issues. On one flight, breakfast was not loaded onto the aircraft. Another passenger and I notified the f/a of this and she spoke with the station manager. We received food vouchers but since we already boarded, we could not use them until we arrived in Phoenix. On the other hand, the few flights that arrive in Madison which originate in Phoenix, have not had a catering issue in my experience. In my view, the Dallas catering facility is overrated in light of all of the errors that I experienced in the last few years.
