Several times previously, I pre-ordered this meal and the catering facility at DFW never loaded the meal. On this particular route, the aircraft originates in Dallas, so all catering comes from American's kitchen, not a general caterer. Service started with a pre-departure orange juice. After take-off, we received warmed mixed nuts and a red blend. Dinner consisted of a shrimp appetizer which appeared dry. The salad was the typical baby lettuces with tomato and the very liquid, drippy olive oil and vinegar dressing. The main meal was beef short ribs with steak house sauce, baked onion, and a twice-baked potato. The meat was medium rare which is my preference and the sauce was tangy and rich. The baked onion was good. The potato was dry and resembled a baked, rather than a twice-baked, potato. Maybe more butter when mashing might have prevented the dryness. The dessert was carrot cake.

Other: Flight attendant was very nice despite English being his second language. When taking people's meal orders, he not only stated the choices but showed pictures from his phone. Very good way to supplement the verbal description and I wish that all flight attendants in the premium cabin did this.
