Route: Manchester to Arrecife, Lanzarote, 9 Sep 2004
Ticket price: Package
Flight duration: 4 Hours
Aircraft type & class: Airbus A320
Business or leisure trip: Leisure
Meal type: Lunch
Hot childs meal, which consisted of meatballs in a tomato based sauce with pasta, yoghurt, and a rice based pudding (cold)
Also a portion of Camembert cheese. An interesting choice for a 3 year old. The Smarties in the picture were not included in the meal
Drink: Tea or Coffee provided inclusive, but opted for a Sprite.
Comments: You can’t really fail with meatballs in a childs meal. The cheese was a bit ‘grown-up’ for a 3 year old, but I suppose the meal has to cater for children 2 – 14 so not complaining. Yoghurt and dessert both went down well.

Contents of the meal: Hot chicken dinner, inc potatoes, mixed vegetables, greek side salad and dessert. Not sure what the dessert was, but rice based and very nice.
Drink: Red Wine Sangre De Toro (not included with meal)
Comments: Good and hot, and possibly the tastiest airline meal I have had yet. Crew very pleasant but struggled a little with English and sterling currency. Was surprised that Spanair were our airline as the package was booked with Thomson (TUI) in the UK who use Brittania. They chartered this route to Spanair.

Flight Duration: 1hr
Class: Economy class on MD87.
Meal: Refreshment - A bag of peanuts.
Drink: Apple juice out of a selection of soft drinks and coffee.
Comments: Is this really competition? Same aircraft equipment - just
slightly better seat pitch - and very similar inflight service/food, meal, catering when
compared to my other flight on Iberia on the reciprocal leg the same day.
In this case I didn't eat the peanuts, so can't tell whether the quality was
better than Iberia's.

Meal: Cold dinner - Cold cordon bleu, noodle and coleslaw salad, some strange type of a pizza, rolls, chocolate cake.
Drink: Water, Tonic water, tea or coffee
Comments: The cordon bleu was really good, but the salads (as most times with Spanair) nearly a catastrophe. The strange pizza (or whatever) - don't talk about it. And the cake was extremely swett, but oK.
