Flight duration: 3h18
Aircraft and Class: Airbus 320, Ship 3203, Coach seat
26A
Drink: Sierra Mist on ice
Meal: (from the menu) "Todays lunch offering included
a choice of a roast beef, or turkey and swiss sandwich."
I chose the turkey and swiss. A small bag of Fritos, an apple, and a sealed
cup of water came with it. The bun was a little soggy on one of the edges,
however it beat pretzels and pop by leaps and bounds. Not extremely flavorful,
but also better than some things I've had in flight on other airlines.
Apple was edible along with the Fritos (duh pretty hard to screw up fritos)
Overall score: 6.5

Comments: Excellent service from the 2 FAs upstairs with
us. They were very attentive and when the lead FA said there were no more
Japanese meals available, our awesome FA from AZ went downstairs and scrounged
up an extra meal. Great thanks to the two Arizona FAs.

Route: Paris - Detroit, 10 Dec 2003
Ticket price: $392 RT (Houston - Paris)
Aircraft type & class: Coach
Business or leisure trip: Leisure
Meal type: Snack
Contents of the meal: Snack (vegetarian) - apple, applesauce, orange
Drink: water
Comments: This is what qualifies as a vegetarian snack??
Just in case you didn't get enough apple eating the apple itself, they
give you applesauce too. The FA handed out ice cream to the rest of the
passengers and wouldn't give us any since we ordered vegetarian meals.
!!! 15 minutes later she came back with some extras for us.
Rating 1-10 (worst-best): 2 for the fruit alone. 5 when
you add in the ice cream

Aircraft type & class: Coach
Business or leisure trip: Leisure
Meal type: Lunch
Contents of the meal: Lunch (vegetarian) - saffron rice, peas, spicy cauliflower,
crackers, cheese, bread, fruit, tomato & fennel salad
Drink: water, ginger ale, white wine
Comments: The rice & veggies were pretty good. I
love fennel salads so I really enjoyed that. Cheese and crackers were
great - usually vegetarians get the vegan meal which I don't like too
much. Dessert could have been more substantial than fruit but at least
you can't ruin fruit. The white wine was atrocious. Did not drink.
Rating 1-10 (worst-best): -1 for the wine, 8 for everything
else

Meal type: Breakfast
Contents of the meal: Breakfast (vegetarian) - packaged bagel, jam, strawberry
yogurt
Drink: water
Comments: Please save this bagel. It was a packaged,
gummy, jammy disaster. Where is the cream cheese? Where is the heating?
At least there was yogurt... And at least I was landing in Paris in 30
minutes so I could binge on pastry.
Rating 1-10 (worst-best): 2 for the yogurt

Aircraft type & class: Coach
Business or leisure trip: Leisure
Meal type: Dinner
Contents of the meal: Dinner (vegetarian) - penne pasta in a creamy sauce
topped with zucchini, packaged roll with margarine, vegan brownie, iceberg
lettuce salad
Drink: water
Comments: the pasta (without the zucchini) was pretty
good! I was surprised. It was nice to not be served an entirely vegan
meal when ordering a vegetarian meal. The packaged roll was sad, as expected.
The brownie was low-fat and therefore low-taste. Iceberg lettuce - why
bother. Really, the main was decent enough to be much better than the
vast majority of airline vegetarian meals.

Meal type: Dinner
Contents of the meal: Chicken (not pictured) or beef & rice. The other
choice of chicken had run out before the meal cart reached my row. Steamed
rice with '5' shreds of stir-fried beef with onion, legume and oriental
sauce. Salad (with dressing) and mystery cake. Cold roll with butter spread.
Drink: Coffee and Orange Juice
Comments: This looks like a vegetarian meal but it isn't.
The 5 shreds of beef were simply hidden under the onions and legumes.

Meal type: Breakfast
Contents of the meal: Western selection consisted of the usual omelette,
sausage and potato wedges. Oriental selection consisted of fried rice
and a slice of egg. Meal came with a "warm" fruit yoghurt, a
muffin and fresh fruits.
Drink: Orange Juice, Tea, Coffee, Apple Juice
Comments: Very ordinary in taste and presentation. No
warm rolls were served so I really couldn't figure out what the butter
was for....unless it is supposed to go with the muffin? I chose the fried
rice....it was tasteless. I had to sprinkle a whole sachet of salt to
give it some taste. Picked up a can of apple juice after the breakfast
service.
