Route: Prague-Budapest, 14 Dec 2003
Flight duration: 46 min
Aircraft type & class: Bombardier Canadair Regional
Jet CRJ-200, Economy
Business or leisure trip: Leisure
Meal type: Breakfast
Contents of the meal: Sandwich triangle, filled with honey ham, cheese
and juicy cream. For dessert there was a hazelnut cream filled wafer.
Drink: Non alcoholic drinks were served only on this
flight like tea or coffee. Everybody received with the menü one tin
of 100% orange juice
Comments: There were two F/As on the board. They were
skilful, quick and pretty. The bread of the sandwich was a little bit
tough for me.

Flying from: Bologna to Budapest, 30 April 2003
Flight Duration: 1hr
Class: Single class Economy on Canadair Regional Jet.
Meal type: Snack/Dinner - An offering of sandwich filled
with hungarian
paprika salami and green peppers, together with a chocolate coated
wafer kindly
handed out by the flight attendants.
Drink: I had a red Hungarian wine (probably a Pinot)
from a selection
of soft drinks, juices, mineral water (still/sparkling), wine, coffee
or tea.
Comments: Malév Express is a wholly owned subsidiary
of Malév
Hungarian Airlines, flying regional routes out of Budapest. Service is
simplified onboard the Regional Jets, but snacks are anyway tasty and
provided with style. In this case the sandwich (single offering, no
replicas) was nice and an introduction to Hungarian specialties. A full
meal, though, would have been better for a flight departing at 20.50.

Flying from: Budapest to Bologna, 3 May 2003
Flight Duration: 1hr5minutes
Class: Single class Business/Economy on Fokker70.
Meal type: Snack/Dinner - An offering of sandwich filled
with hungarian patè, salad and ham, together with a chocolate coated
biscuit filled with chocolate kindly handed out by the flight attendants.
Drink: I had a red Hungarian wine (probably a Pinot)
and sparkling water from a selection of soft drinks, juices, mineral water
(still/sparkling), wine, coffee or tea.
Comments: Due to passenger load, the Canadair Regional
Jet usually used on this route was substituted by a bigger Malév
Fokker70. The layout was a
luxurious business class cabin fitted with a very comfortable 2+2 seating.
Service onboard was the same as onboard the Canadair Regional Jet, with
a
tasty snack provided with style. The sandwich, like the one on the inbound
flight to Budapest, was very fresh.
Rating 1-10 (worst-best): +7,5 (the extra 0,5 is due
to the cabin layout)
