Route JFK-WAW, 13 Feb 2004
Ticket Price: $508 Round trip
Flight Duration: 7h45
Aircraft type & class: Boeing 767-200 Economy
Business or leisure trip: leisure
[055] * Dinner: Consisted of an appetizer (ham and pate), a choice of
turkey or pork for the main meal (I chose the pork, which came with rotini
noodles and mixed vegetables), a side salad with Italian dressing, two
rolls with butter, and a small Twix bar for desert.
[056] * Breakfast: Consisted of a ham and cheese platter, a small peach
yogurt, and the same sort of rolls as with dinner.
Drink: A choice of the usual alcoholic and non-alchoholic
drinks; I chose Zywiec Polish beer.
Comments: LOT's food service has a LOT going for it.
The meals are generally of good quality and sufficient quantity. The one
glaring deficiency is the lack of sparkling wine in Economy class. I hope
that now that LOT is a STAR Alliance member, this failing will be remedied,
as sparkling wine is served on other STAR airlines, e.g. Austrian. Another
problem is that LOT just serves too much pork! I mean, it's enough to
drive you to Kosher meals even if you are not Jewish. Between the pork
main course, the ham and pate appetizer, and the ham for breakfast, it
would appear that a massive pig kill off had to happen just to cater this
flight. Watch out LOT, the pigs are about to rise against you! I think
that LOT should plan its meals with a more varied content in mind. These
photos are from the outbound leg of my trip; I shall enclose the photos
from the return leg soon.
Rating 1-10 (worst-best): 7 overall (8 for quality and
quantity and 6 for variety)

Route: WAW-BUD LO 531, 11 Feb 2004
Ticket price: ID ticket
Flight duration: 55 minutes, usually it is a bit more,
but we were on a late because of de icing, so maybe that's why the pilot
hurried it up.
Aircraft type & class: 737-400, Economy (Y)
Business or leisure trip: Leisure one day visit to Warsaw,
backing to Budapest
Meal type: main evening dish
Contents of the meal: Two slices of meat with tomato
and a slice of citrus, two prepacked rolls with butter, a smelly uneatable
salad, a peace of chocolate.
Drink: Every beverages plus tea and coffee.
Comments: That was a real evening dish! The meat was
tasty, the service was excellent, the pursers knew how to treat the passengers.
There were 7 of them, which is very rare nowadays, I think even for about
80 passengers on board. Only the salad was not too good, in fact it was
uneatable at all. Summa summarum, that was a lot LOT! :)
Rating 1-10 (worst-best): 8. Because of the salad

Ticket price: free - Miles and More award
Flight duration: 3 hours
Aircraft type & class: B737-500, economic
Meal type: dinner
Contents of the meal: cabin crew served hot meal with some kind of starter
- (on the left) - meat in oil, cheese and bread. The main course - cooked
meat balls, fried potatoes and cucumber - all in quite good deep. Additionally
carrots salad.
Drinks: Like usually a big variety of free beverages
and alcoholic drinks; also very good vines served before meal and during
all flight.
Comments: Very good impression, especially that LOT invites you for the
full hot meal even in economic class on the european routes. Many other
airlines serve only sandwich or some snack. Here in LOT Polish you can
expect great hot meal. Very good impression !

Comments: This eggs were very strange, although eatable,
well warmed and prepared but I really do not know what the baked potato

;-)). Yoghurt with fresh fruit was perfect.
