Comments:The crew decided for us to serve the dinner
in one setting, rather then serve it in courses as normally done in a
business class environment. The tray was crowded with the appetizer and
main course served with the foil food, meal, catering lid on it. This presentation
was awkward and not very professional.

Comment: Weak breakfast KLM! I expected a nice warm,
hearty breakfast for my arrival in Amsterdam. Instead we got a glorified
economy class breakfast service. Not even corn flakes or other cereal???
Rating (1-10) worst-best: 2 (fruit was fresh and they
gave me two breakfast rolls); Service was a 2… KLM is basically
Northwest painted in blue instead of silver and red. The FA’s were
extremely grumpy. I expected a much higher caliber of service in a business
class cabin.

Dessert * Fresh fruit.
Drink: Diet coke; hot tea.
Comment: Mediocre meal at best. The crab appetizer and
warm bread roll were the nicest parts of the meal. The rice of the main
course was fine but the chicken was served with the skin and once the
skin was removed there was hardly any meat. I was about to ask for an
economy class meal as I hardly touched this one. The crackers were okay
as well but the salad was so drenched in olive oil it was a mess to even
try to eat so I left that untouched as well. Other choices for the main
meal were vegetable lasagna or black cod and for dessert there was a cheese
plate or fruit tart option. Note: plastic knife was served with the main
meal and a metal knife served with the dessert apparently to tackle the
soft melon and pineapple slices, go figure!

Strawberry fruit yogurt (plain also available)

Croissant (Other available, this was my choice)
Strawberry jam (apricot jam and honey was available as alternatives)
Main Dish: (Western Dish) Scrambled eggs and apple and walnut crepe
served with chicken sausage and grilled tomato
Drink: Orange juice & coffee
Comments: KLM rarely messes up breakfast and this was
certainly no exception. The fruits were fresh as was the yogurt and croissant.
The main dish was excellent as well, the only minus being the chicken
sausage which was a little leathery. Otherwise the crepes were excellent.
Once again, good job KLM. It was also a nice touch to be able to select
the contents of the breakfast on the small slip before take off. Saves
a lot of time by having the tray pre-plated.

Comments: Yummy Yummy jumbo shrimps and call it whatever
you like; pasta, pasghetti, or noodles they were yummy with a nice sauce
that there could have been more of. The shrimps were cooked to perfection
and there were plenty of them to eat whole if you wanted to! Mushrooms
were deliscious. Tuna Tataki was cooked perfectly and that bowl of green
stuff was supposed to be a salad. Desert was a cakey thing, which I just
love, and a little spot of tea after.

Ticket price: €710
Flight duration: 9hrs
Aircraft type & class: KLM Boeing 747-200 economy
(KLM calls it a 747-300 because it has been converted with a stretched
upper deck. It makes no sense to me)
Meal type: Snack - A cup of icecream
Comments: Served during a movie, it tasted just like
an icecream on the ground.

Meal type: Breakfast - Scrambled Egss on (I think!) a
spinach sauce, some sort of breakfast pastry, yoghurt, fruit compote,
bread roll.

Comments: Weird. That was the only way to describe this
meal. Like space food - tasteless, as if it had been rehydrated. And not
filling at all.

Meal type: Breakfast - Bircher Museli, Fruit Compote,
Bun, Muffin, Scrambled Eggs, Sausage, Bacon, Hash Brown, Cheery Tomato,
Soft Cheese
Drink: Orange Juice / Coffee
Comments: One of the best meals I've had on KLM. The
Bircher Museli was a very pleasant surprise in Y class, but when will
airlines start using grapes WITHOUT seeds in their fruit compotes!!!
Rating 1-10 (worst-best): 8 (One mark off for the seeds)

Meal type: Dinner - Smoked Trout and Mixed Peppers Salad,
Stir Fried Chicken with Vegetables in Oriental Sauce, Black Forest Cake
with Coconut Shavings and Beery Coulis, Bread Roll.
Drink: Orange Juice and Coffee.
Comments: I was simply handed this meal, so I don't know
if there was a second choice that ran out of not before they got to me.
Nice, fresh, warm bun and grateful to be offered a second as they are
so small. Salad was ok, but seperate dressing is always nice which this
didn't have. Cake was lovely, but very cold! Room temperature would have
been nicer. Serving of main dish a little small for a dinner flight, but
not too bad.

Comments: A selection of sandwiches would have been better.

Meal type: Desert-Apple pie and a selection of Dutch
cheese/fresh fruit
Drink: Columbian coffee.
Comments: At last something to talk about. The cheese
was fresh and full flavoured. The apple pie was also nice, and considering
I hadn't eaten much during the early part of the meal, this made up for
it a little bit.

with a hotchpotch of spring onions and carrots, garlic mushrooms and red
skin horseradish potato mash), accompanied with a mixed salad, breadroll/butter.
Drink: St. Supery, Atkinson House, Cabernet Sauvignon
2000.
Comments: Bland is all I can say. The hotchpotch was
a mess. This dish may sound exotic, but it lacked much idea in preparation.
KLM would do well to either spruce it up, or remove it from their menu.

hors d'oeuvre" (Tiger prawns served with an apple and celeriac salad
and pepper sauce), accompanied with a mixed salad, breadroll/butter.
Drink: King Estate Pinot Gris 2001
Comments: The dish could have had more flavour. It was
dry and lacked punch. The salad was fresh and balsamic vinegar was enough
for the size of the salad. The bread was warm and fresh as usual.
