Flying from: Dubai, UAE to Amsterdam, 19 June 2002
Class: Economy
Meal type: Breakfast - A cheese omelette, Dutch Frikadell, roasted potatoes, yoghurt, and fruit.
Drink: choice of coffee, tea, or fruit juices
Comments: "The omelette was tolerable, the potatoes were a touch soggy, but the frikadell was excellent. Interestingly, KLM appears to be using stainless steel knives on all flights other than those to and from North America, which I find highly commendable. Plastic is appalling."
Rating 1-10 (worst-best): 5

Flying from: Muscat, Oman to Dubai, UAE, 28 June 2001
Class: Y
Meal type: Midnight snack - Mini-kebabs with pasta, tomato & cheese sandwiches; dates and two Arab pastries for dessert
Comments: "Considering the air-time between Muscat and Dubai is less than 40 minutes, managing a hot snack with full beverage service is quite a feat. Within 10 minutes of take-off everyone on the 767 had been served and the garbage was collected 10 minutes before landing! As for the food itself, the kebabs were quite tasty and the pastries were first-rate -- as they usually are in this part of the world. The pasta was okay, but I'm no fan of such things after midnight."

Flying from: San Francisco (SFO) to Amsterdam (AMS), 26Apr 2002
Meal type: Breakfast
Comments: "This was a strange meal, perhaps intended to be a
brunch. It consisted of broccoli, and what was described to me later
as a soufflé, some tater-tot like spuds, and a bizarre creamed
mustard sauce. The yogurt and bagged pastry were much welcomed
additions. I guess I was supposed to put the jelly & butter on the
bagged pastry? On a scale of 1-10 (worst - best) it is was a 3; only
saved from a rating of 1 by the yogurt."
