Dessert

Drink: Charles Ellner Cuvee de Reserve Brut
Comments: Entrée orders were also taken from back to front, but
they were running short of the chicken entrée. Then the appetizer
trolley rolled out… appetizers and dessert are all on the tray.
Bread basket offers some nice warmed pita bread, as well as garlic bread,
pretzel rolls, and soft rolls. Entrées were served next. For appetizers,
I pick the seafood one with two shrimps and two scallops, and they are
quite nice. Everything is fresh. For entrée, I have the vegetarian
option, but it is a Chinese mixed vegetable dish and the beancurd roll
is missing.

Comments: Simply wonderful. I like their service in Economy, but in Business,
you feel even better. After I had some small sandwiches in the lounge,
a light continental breakfast was enough to fill me up. I loved the canapés
and the traditional mezze. There were four main courses to choose from

dessert. Huge drink selection (even champagne cocktails are served). I
hope to fly with EK again soon !

220 Menue: A picture of the very nicely designed printed menue.

219

218 Breakfast and Mushroom Omelette: This was definitely the
highlight of this flight. There was a choice of "American Style Pan
Cakes" or "Creamy Mushroom Omelette" of which I chose the
latter. It was served with some fresh fruit and a hot croissant plus coffee
or tea, of course. The Omelette was "served with pan-fried Nuernberger
sausage, roasted Roma tomato and fried potato wedges". It may be
just me, but I just love those airline breakfasts with these pale, tasteless
sausages and everything but fried tomatoes aside but find that you hardly
get these anymore on many airlines so I was very pleased to get it on
this flight :-) Actually, the sausage wasn't that bad and the mushrooms
and omelette were quite tasty for an airline brakfast and this time around
it was really enough even for me. Very nice indeed, Rating 10 out of 10.

217

216 Snack and Beef Wrap: On this very long 13 hours plus flight
we got served some snacks in between. There was a choice of a vegtable
wrap and a stir-fried beef wrap and some cakes and chocolate bars. The
wrap was very very tasty but way too tiny as always on Emirates. Rating
6 out of taste because the ridicuously small size.

215 Chicken Sandwich: I asked for some more to eat after the
main meal and got this very nice and tasty chicken sandwich. Nice service
indeed and the sandwich was much better than the usual cold and dry things
you expect. Very tasty with loads of chicken, some nice dressing and fresh
salad on it. Rating 10 out of 10.

214

213

212 Lunch, Roast Chicken and Sides: I ordered a special non-seafood
meal because I can't take fish or seafood so I got another appetizer instead
of the "Chilli Prwans" mentioned in the printed menue (some
nice cold sliced duck on salad). Apart from that the meal was the same
as the Chicken Choice in the menue: Nice fresh salad with dressing, main
meal "Roasted Chicken breast served with dried tomato cream sauce,
accompanied with sliced carrots, green aspargus spears and herbed mashed
potatoes", dessert "Tangerine Gateaux served with raspberry
coullis". The whole meal was very nice actually, though it left me
hungry, as always on a plane :-) Rating: 8 out of 10.

211 Starter: Any drink and little salty snacks. Chose a beer
which turned out to be South African which I found strange, but tasted
quite nice. Some airlines nowadays even save on giving you this little
snack after take-off on Economy, so it's worth mentioning it.

Flight Duration: 13:50 hours

Trip: Moving to Australia for good :-)
Camera and brand: Sony Cybershot DSC-P73
Additional information: Entertainment and Amentity:
Not really what airlinemeals is about but I thought it might be of some
interest: On the new non-stop flights from Dubai to Sydney on the long-reach
A340-500 in Economy you get very nice amenity kits in a nice reusable
little bag containing a little comb, socks, earplugs, a toothbrush and
eye-shades (the latter two not on the picture beacause I used them before
taking it). Plus, you have "ICE", the very best entertainment
system on any economy class I've ever been on, even much better than the
one Singapore Airlines offers. The really thick entertainment guide lists
hundreds of movies, TV-series, games and a huge collection of music including
all UK charts number ones since 1952 which was really amazing. Together
with the really nicely designed new Airbus and the additional seat pitch
it made this incredibly long flight feeling much shorter than some 5 hours
flight on a cramped and old 747. I've been to Australia pretty often before
flying from Europe and with this new non-stop service from Dubai I can
only very much recommend this choice, it makes this long trip so much
easier, especially when combined with a nice two nights stop-over in Dubai
like I did. Altogether, I would give a 11 out of 10 for the entire flight
though I normally am not easy to please as an airline passenger :-)

Comment: Despite the presentation which could have been done on a plate
rather than crammed into a serving dish - the beef was tender and very
nice (I moved the gooseliver), potatoes done just right with that just
cooked through but slightly firm to the bite texture, vegetables - once
again just cooked - not raw texture.

Comment: Although presentation wise it would hardly set the world on fire
(always find the crockery and table clothes on Emirates a little old fashioned),
taste wise it was good. Salmon cooked just right, prawn nice size. Bread
bought around in a basket and there were about 5 or 6 choices of different
varieties. They also came around several times for extra. Salad fresh
and okay if a little unadventurous. Note the plastic knife and fork into
Heathrow. We flew from Australia and on different segments the cutlery
varied (from plastic knife and metal fork, to all metal, to all plastic).
Drinks (wine, soft drinks , cocktails) were serve before the entree with
small canapes. overall, a good tasteful start to a nice meal.
