Ticket price: 1000 USD
Flight duration: 8 hours
Aircraft type & class: Airbus

Meal type: Lunch
Contents of the meal: Marinated artichokes with mushrooms, served with
stuffed vine leaves. Seasonal Salad served with a dressing. Paprika Chicken.
Tender braised chicken breast with paprika topping, served with roasted
potatoes and Mexican vegetable mixture. Cinnamon cake, bread, butter,
cheese and biscuits.
Drink: Lots of water.
Comments: Emirates meals are prepared according to the Halal method, no
pork products are used. Emirates service and food are outstanding. The
paprika chicken was delicious. One of the nice things about Emirates is
small things such as cheese, chocolates and lots of waters.
There was a second choice of grilled Hammour fillet, served with a pine
seed and herb tomato sauce, accompanied with vermicelli rice.

Ticket price: Package
Flight Duration: 6 hrs 50 min
Aircraft type & Class: Boeing 777-200 / Economy
Business trip or leisure trip: Leisure
Meal Type: Hot Lunch
Pasta Salad with basil pesto sauce and tuna sashimi — the tuna was
very good and was a great complement to the pasta and sauce
Seasonal Salad — just your usual greens salad but this one came
with the freshest and crunchiest lettuce and greens
Grilled Chicken Breast marinated with herbs served with tomato concasse,
creamy leek ragout, and potato wedges — the chicken was very tasty
and grilled to perfection; the blandness of the tomato, leek, and potatoes
were great accompaniment to an otherwise salty meat dish
Mint and Morello Royal — chocolate biscuit base with morello filling,
covered with a mini bavarois, topped with brownie cake and chocolate sauce
— absolutely the BEST dessert I have had on air (and I’ve
been a frequent world-traveler for years); the heavenly filling was custard-like
and gave contrast to the biscuit base and brownie cake — this dessert
was TO DIE FOR!!!
Drink: Coca-Cola Light and Hot tea
Comments: One of the best airline meals I’ve had. The dessert was
awesome and is probably the best tasting dessert I’ve ever had bar
none.

Scrambled Eggs with roesti potato, baked beans, asparagus, and tomato
-- perfectly scrambled eggs albeit bland but the sweetish baked beans
and tartness of the tomato provided a good balance; the asparagus were
crisp and tender
Croissant — warm and flaky
Drink: Coca-Cola Light and Hot tea

There used to be 2 types of airliner around, Concorde and the others.
Concorde is sadly no longer in service so the new airliners are Economy
and First/Business. When flying in First or Business the company who actually
fabricated the plane seems insignificant next to the chefs who created
the menus and the supermodels who serve their creations. This flight was
in Business

Comments: After the chaos of Bombay it was a real treat to be able to
relax in front of a great meal and not worry about germs. Fantastic service.
Thank you Emirates, your staff at Bombay airport (in particular Elvis)
were teriffic and the boys and girls on the plane (Sally) equally so.
It is a shame that Indian immigration authorities are so slow in letting
passengers leave their dreadful airport that very few passengers had the
chance to enjoy the Businness/First class lounge prior to departure.

Comments: Back to PLASTIC CUTLERY. Why is it that we can be trusted not
to stab each other east of Dubai but not west? It would certainly be difficult
to threaten the safety of the plane, it is hard enough to get out of the
seats unarmed. Plastic or proper.
Fruit: excellent, cold & fresh. Croissant hot & soggy. Roesti
thing, uninspired and bland. Peppers & spinach, delicious.
EK 011 is such a tricky flight to be happy on being that it departs at
2 something in the morning. Everyone is knackered and it only gets worse
the longer the flight goes on. Emirates should have bought some Concordes.
Their crew at least deserved them.

Comments: It is great to see the return of METAL CUTLERY. I don't know
if it is a geographical thing but on all flights east of Dubai, Emirates
trusted us with real metal knives forks & spoons. Bravo Emirates.

was dreadful as usual. They should have thrown them out with the plastic

Comments: HKG/BKK Light Evening Meal:
Salad a bit on the limp side, not improved by the bland dressing.
Beef & vegetables better than it looked. Hot and satisfying.
I didn't attempt the cake as my body suddenly became a temple.
Wine did its job & sent me to sleep.
BKK/DXB Breakfast:
Fruit tasted like it had just been plucked. Excellent & refreshing
to awaken the palate. Noodles a tad overcooked but good colour & smell.
Croissant was stale but what do you expect after 7 hours in the air. Altogether
a fine breakfast.
I like flying with Emirates. Their seats may be no bigger or no more comfortable
than their rivals but their staff, from check-in to destination, always
have a great disposition. They give off a truly professional approach
and I love the uniforms. The planes don't seem as sparklingly clean (on
the inside) as they always used to. I hope they start sprucing up the
older ones soon.

Comments: This was the absolute best meal I've ever had on a flight.
The curry was superb, I'd have paid for it in a restaurant. The rice wasn't
dried out as it usually is in airline food. The salads were fresh and
delicious. The most shocking thing about the meal?
Everything was actually vegan. That hardly ever happens! We hadn't requested
vegan meals in advance and they managed to get this on the flight for
us when we checked in.
