Flying from: Bangkok to Hong Kong, 29 August 2002
Class: Business
Meal type: Light Snack - For starters, cold sliced duck salad or big prawns in Thai sauce. Hot main courses were sesame chicken in sweet and sour sauce with noodles or pieces of lamb in a prune suace with mashed potatoes. The dessert was a sponge cake with a chocolate topping.
Drink: Chateux Lynch-Bages 1993
Comments: "The starters were very good. The sesame chicken was ok. The sweet and sour sauce was a bit tasteless and gooey. The lamb was superb. Very juicy and tender. The fruit sauce went very well with it. The sponge cake was moist and tasty."
Rating 1-10 (worst-best): 9 for the lamb, 5 for the lamb, but 10 for the wine!

Flying from: Dubai to Bangkok, 29 August 2002
Class: Business
Meal type: Breakfast - Fresh fruit, blueberry yoghurt, warm rolls, muffins and croissants, vegetarian mushroom omelette (special meal), Nasi Lemak (Malaysian rice dish)
Drink: Water, tea
Comments: "The fresh fruits were good. The yoghurt was tasty. Very fruity. The breads were warm and of a high standard. However, the special order of the vegetarian omelette was horrendous. Dry and tasteless with tinned mushrooms! No amount of salt or pepper can rescue it from total blandness. The other choice of rice dish was far far better. There was a piece of spiced chicken, a portion of coconut-flavoured rice, some fried small fish, half a boiled egg and something wrapped in pandan leaf. We could not figure out what that was."
Rating 1-10 (worst-best): 2 for the omelette, but 7 for the rice.

Flying from: Nairobi to Dubai, 28 August 2002
Class: Business
Meal type: Dinner - (images 004-005-006-007-008-009) Pre-dinner canapes, fresh salad, prawn and smoked salmon in dill, pan fried fish with penne pasta, pan fried chicken in butter sauce, apple tart or pistachio mouse tart with vanilla sauce
Drink: Various wines
Comments: "The canapes were not too great. The toasts were soggy. The prawn was sweet. Both the hot dishes were delicious. Neither the fish nor the chicken was overheated. Even the pasta was just right. The desserts were the highlight. Definitely 5 star hotel standard. Once again, Emirates had excelled in the dessert department!"
