Route: Paris CDG to Southampton SOU, August 2004
Ticket price: £156.00 GBP (for SOU to HEL)
Flight duration: 35 minutes (CDG to SOU)
Aircraft type & class: Canadair RJ, Tempo (Economy - one class
only)
Meal: Dinner
"Les Tits" triangular Crackers Au Sesame biscuits. A Bell's
whisky over ice.
Comments: Full marks to Britair for not only serving free alcohol
on board (for a very short flight on a tiny plane) but also for the amusement
value. I mean... serving up a brand of biscuits from Mont Saint Michelle
called "Les Tits"! But very good they were too, and quite surprising
considering that the flight was sold as a real cheapy. Not that there
was much time to eat them - service started 10 minutes after takeoff -
10 minutes later the food was cleared.
More of a shock was the offer of free alcohol! Alas the tiny trolley only
has 4 of each type of booze, and by the time it reached me all the wine,
beer, and even gin had already gone. Pretty much the only thing left was
whisky. Still, not bad for a freebie.
Rating 1-10 (worst-best): 8 (if only for the possibility of a free
drink!)

Route: Southampton SOU to Helsinki (via Paris CDG), August 2004
Ticket price: £156.00 GBP
Flight duration: 35 minutes (to CDG)
Aircraft type & class: Canadair RJ, Tempo (Economy - one class only)
Meal: Breakfast
Two packets of chocolate chip biscuits, a cup of
coffee, and a glass of orange juice.
Comments: This was on the first early morning sector from Southampton
to Paris, before changing onto the flight to Helsinki. I was pleasantly
surprised to find that breakfast was on offer for this very short flight.
I was less impressed to find that just biscuits were the food. They were
soft with real chunks of chocolate - pretty good. The coffee had lots
of flavour, and even the orange juice had bits in it to prove it was the
real thing. Not bad considering that by the time the trolley had got to
the back of the cabin, it had to start collecting empties from the front
in preparation for landing.

Comments: To be honest, I think Air France/Britair is turning into
a so called "No frill airline"!
Look at this crapy breakfast, I remember a couple of month ago I get a
fully continental breakfast on the same flight.Very, very poor!!!

Meal: breakfast - croisant

Comments: A very nice breakfast for a domestic flight
of less than one hour. The crew was very friendly and attentive.
We had a delay of 15 minutes because the captain was ill and they had
to find a substitute. At least I‘m sure his illness had nothing
to do with the meal! BTW: The cabin was very nice looking.
