What do you think is the best and worst?

Uh, I'm not sure about the worst, but I've had some bad experiences with NW.

I was wondering how american's food is? i'm flying from ord-lax on a 757
:???:

I think your question is difficult to answer as many airlines have the same company which makes the food

Well one of my best meals was on midway airlines in first class it was great! :???:

It's pretty good, Coach is actually somewhat enjoyable, I'm not sure about first class.

Once again, the quality/quality of the food does not realy have anything to do with the caterers. They just cater to the taste/requirements of the airlines. Airlines decide of the menu, quantity, quality of food. Regardless if the caterer provides food to 100 different customers, the airlines decide of the level of food quality/quantity they want to offer.

Right, I could go to Il Fernaio (quite posh, but a little too businessy) and order salsbury steak (taht how ya spell it?) and pay 5$, while my brother could get veal and pay 20$ Of course my bros would be much better.

Back to the topic.
From memory my best meal was Qantas from Cairns to Singapore Business Class around June 2001. It was a delicious beef fillet served with 1997 Orlando St Hugo Cab Sav.
The worst meal that I can recall was Aeroflot from Moscow to London late 1988. It was cold boiled chicken with no sauce whatsoever. Salt & pepper was all you had to flavour your cold meat. Although that same meal had caviar in the entree. And I love caviar.
Second worst meal was Domestic Business Class with Qantas from Adelaide to Sydney just last week. There was no choice and I had cooked cold salmon which tasted very fishy.

when i flew from Cairns to Sydney in 1998 i had a reall good meal on Qantas. It was Satay Chicken and Fried Rice, it was the best meal on a plane i've had. Not that i've had any bad ones.

yeah I think that's the problem - you've to find somethin which everybody likes
Offline
But I think that there are some meals liken by nearly everybody, for ex. italian dishes (all kind of pasta...) but they are not served frequently :-(

How about an airline cafe at the airport. You could go to the appropriate airline cafe, and if the flight includes a meal, show them oyur ticket and pick a meal of your chice (according to your class of course). If a meal is not included, you could by one, thus eliminating the need of ovens and cold storage, and allowing for more food storage capacity which means more variety.

Cyrille,
Yeah, most people love pasta dishes, but then they are notoriously difficult to serve well in flight. They are either too dry or burnt around the edges or too squashy. :-(

Yes, I know... But I had great pasta meals in planes, so it IS possible...

I had some good experiences with Air france on a tripLHR- CDG - SFO - CDG - LHR.
THe sizes were very good and tasted rather nice.
I have not long had a flight with lufthansa cityline between birmingham uk and munich. What i found funny was that on the outboung flight all they served was a little sandwhich and on the return departing from munich we were given a meal service which was one og the best i have ever had.
For me i can't say that i have had bad experiences.
Well the worst was on a BA flight from verona to Gatwick.
Part of the all day deli was a tuna roll and after eating it i had the worst stomach pains ever so that was probably worst.
I also had good experiences with Gulf air long haul economy class.

Ive flown numerous times on SQ since I was born (Flown on 16 individual flights last year) and I've always had pretty decent meals in all 3 classes. Before I surfed this site, I don't have much idea about what I ate but now I always try to remember what I actually ate on my flights.
Never had too many bad ones actually, one of the best I had was last year on a flight back to HKG from SIN. I was in F, and I remember from the Caviar, the soup, salad and then the main course which was Abalone Slices With Chicken wrapped in Lotus Leaf prepared by Yeung Koon Yat, a member of SQ's International Culinary Panel was definetely the best main course meal I've had! Dun get much chance to have a taste of Abalone, especially when flying.
For Economy, most meals taste rather the same for me. Strangely people have been complaining to me about the meals in Y but I've never had a problem, probably I'm just an easy-going person! :-D
Sometimes I do think of the old days when SQ pushs a cart from the gallery in F and present the meals in front of you, especially when they present the caviar out of the hot steaming silver pot, how they mix the salad together with your own choice of seasoning, and before SQ had no menus in F so you could pick what you like, just like what MH still does <http://www.airlinemeals.net/images/meals/malaysiaairlines011.jpg> Although food taste better these days i reckon, I still miss the old days when I feel like being treated with a more closer and sincere service......
Bon Voyage!
