I had my maiden voyage on an A380 on July 3, on Singapore Airlines from Singapore to Tokyo, in Business class no less.
My impressions of the service and overall experience were less than stellar.
I have been an airline/airplane junkie since I was about 7 years old. My boyhood dream was to fly JAL to Tokyo in order to ride the "bullet-train."
Anyway, this ride on SQ was one of the last segments of an RTW ticket, and of course I was eagerly awaiting my first trip on the A380.
(1) Business class on the SQ A380 is in the upper deck. I always try to ride in the lower deck on 747's since the conditions are cooler. I can't sleep when it's hot. The new flat bed seats in business on SQ are really nice but it was too hot in the upper deck.
(2) The flight attendents seemed to be rushed and uncaring. Didn't get even one smile out of them at all....and I smile at everyone.
(3) Meal service was a CHOICE of dinner or breakfast. I had specifically passed on all the great food in the Silver Kris lounge because I thought that there would be a fabulous dinner on board. I was WRONG. Woke up sweating and starving at 6am, and had rolls and espresso. To their credit, the freshly made espresso on SQ is real nice.
Sorry to sound like a pain in the rear, but those were my impressions. I had a really nice trip on SQ from FRA to SIN on March 31 in Business class, in the 747-400. The seats were the new flat-bed seats, same as the A380, and the rack of lamb was excellent.
