Route: EWR to LAS/CO668, 2003-06-30
Date added: 2009-11-24
Flight duration: 5h 00m
Flight class: economy
Ticket price: $320.00
Aircraft: Boeing 757-200
Meal: VLML - Amy's Kitchen Black Bean Burrito, baby carrots, Jennies Coconut Macaroon Cookie and Listerine PocketPaks
Drink: Diet Coke (3 beverage services during the flight/peanuts handed out during first service)
Comments: I'm not a vegetarian but on past flights I noted that those ordering special meals recieved what appeared to be healthier meals. This meal contained organic everything according to the ingredient lists. The burrito was tasteless (some salsa would have greatly improved its taste). The carrots were nice and crisp. I didn't eat the cookie...for those interested it was clearly marked gluten-free numerous times on its packaging. Never had listerine pocketpaks on any airline before. Guess Continental is trying to send a subtle message to its passengers :o)

Comments: When will Continental learn that vegetarians can like real butter too?? A decent meal otherwise, especially because I like the Amy's brand frozen foods anyway.

Comments: Again, I don't know why they put margarine instead of real butter in the lacto-ovo vegetarian meal... This was a pretty sad meal. It tasted like it looks, unfortunately.

Comments: I was complaining about the margarine before, but this time there wasn't even that! The salad was fine but the rest of this meal wasn't too good.

Route: SE to EWR, 2005-03-31
Date added: 2008-05-21
Flight duration: 5h 00m
Flight class: business
Ticket price: $917
Aircraft: Boeing 737-800, (despite the price) or leisure trip:
Meal: Philly-style cheesesteak, Cole Slaw, potato chips, Pepperidge Farm Milano cookies, mayo packet for some reason
Drink: Water and coke
Comments: Words fail. When someone mentioned to a flight attendant that the food was bad, the response was, "We're the only ones serving meals." If I fly Continental again (and I hope I won't), I'll know to bring my own food anyway. By the way, a Philly cheesesteak is actually made from thin slices of steak. This was more like a McDonald's Sausage McMuffin. Note the processing marks on both the meat and the roll. Untouched by human hands is the best thing you can say about this. Even better was the flight to Seattle, when they served a stromboli (melted cheese wrapped in soft bread - see CO photo 202 on this site) with both potato salad and potato chips. The healthiest thing in both meals was the cookies. Or not eating.

Route: IA to EWR CO48 date: 03 April 2005 , 1970-01-01
Date added: 2008-05-21
Flight duration: h m
Flight class: business
Ticket price: $335 (+ elite upgrade) Duration: 3h 20m
Aircraft: Boeing 767-424/ER First or leisure trip:
Meal: Starter plate of sliced/peeled oranges, honeydew, mango, with strawberry and grapes. Warm croissants and cinnamon rolls brought around in a basket prior to main tray presentation. Main course was an herb omelet with ham, a sausage patty, and a potato souffle.
Drink: Orange juice, full beverage service.
Comments: Nothing special here, omelet was actually tasty but nothing out of the ordinary for CO's breakfast service. Decent crew on the 767 that morning, ton of CO employees throughout the cabin, and single seat in the 767 BF cabin is the way to go when traveling alone. Nice flight.

Route: EW to IAH CO51 date: 01 April 2005 , 1970-01-01
Date added: 2008-05-21
Flight duration: h m
Flight class: business
Ticket price: $335 (+ elite upgrade) Duration: 4h (due to poor weather in IAH area)
Aircraft: Boeing 777-224/ER First or leisure trip:
Meal: Starter of Fisher salted cashews. Main tray had Legal Sea Foods' Lobster Bisque, plus choice of either Lasagna in a marinara sauce, or shrimp salad with a Greek vinaigrette dressing. Dessert was a cherry cheesecake.
Drink: Full beverage service.
Comments: This is always a fun flight to take because of the availability of Continental's great BusinessFirst cabin on this huge aircraft. Seat was excellent, food was more than adequate (the lobster bisque is my favorite out of the CO soups), and nobody really seemed to mind being on the aircraft for an extra hour or so while we avoided big T-storms in the Houston area. Fantastic IAH-based crew on this trip.

Date added: 2008-05-21
Flight duration: h m
Flight class: business
Ticket price: $400 (+ elite upgrade) Duration: 3h 50m
Aircraft: Boeing 737-724 First
Meal: Assorted nuts served in a small paper cup; starter salad with herb vinaigrette dressing; warmed rolls served before main course; chicken, cheese, and pepper sandwich on a huge onion roll; blueberry cheesecake for dessert.
Drink: Water, white wine, and full beverage service.
Comments: This flight made the trip down there in Coach well worth it. Cabin crew very good, but the meal was excellent, better than most of the food I had at the resort. The bread was typical of the kinds "native" to the area, very light and crispy, and the sandwich was much bigger than usual domestic CO flights. Lattice decorative touch on a very fluffy cheesecake was nice.

Route: SE to EWR CO1680 date: 23 February 2005 , 1970-01-01
Date added: 2008-05-21
Flight duration: h m
Flight class: business
Ticket price: $500 (+ elite upgrade) Duration: 4h 55m
Aircraft: Boeing 737-824 Coach
Meal: Began with warm nuts served in a ramekin. Appetizer of smoked salmon with cream cheese and caviar, served with horseradish sauce and lime. Salad was "mesclun salad mix" with an herb vinaigrette or Thousand Island dressing. This tray was served upside down. Entree was a grilled Sterling Silver rib eye steak, served with mashed potatoes, maitre'd hotel butter, asparagus, and red peppers. My traveling companion's Surf & Turf option had a smaller cut of the Sterling Silver steak, along with shrimp, carrots, spinach, and lemon. For dessert, the usual ice cream sundae was offered with all the fixin's.
Drink: Full beverage service.
Comments: One of the best transcon F meals I have had. Everything about this flight was top shelf, even down to the temperature of my beef (medium rare). CO does a great job with dinner flights on the transcon routes.
